Metrolink App Reviews

Beta??? Huh

There is no system map and timetable. Which is crucial. And it says I can only use on Inland Empire Line. Smh. Bad move. Metrolink. But there is time get it right.

Needs more flexibility

While this is a step up from having to use the machines that are usually broken, the app can improve a lot: 1. Cant use the same ticket of the same price for a different location (Ontario vs Rancho C.) In the past, I could use my paper ticket for both 2. Cant use monthly pass for metro transfers 3. Cant purchase monthly pass using my corporate card

Great Start....

Very excited the Metrolink introduced this app. Particularly because their ticket machines are often broken or very slow. Having said that, there are few critical features required before this app can be considered mature. Schedules! Schedules that account for weekends and holidays. Remember me. Stop making me login every time I use the app. Remember me or use touch ID. Wallet support. Not quite required, but nice to have.

Poor

Makes no sense that you cannot buy a train ticket for anytime other than today. Whats the point

No Saved Cards

Credit Card info saved before, but it doesnt. After three times of re-entering my info, I stopped using it. Its easier to buy my ticket at the machine.

No schedule

Blindly purchase tickets from a to b? No schedule How about an app smart enough to get from a to b with schedule, schedule reminders as well as giving bus info

This app is junk!

I have attempted to login multiple times after resetting my password time and time again. The app keeps telling me that the username and password is incorrect. Tried logging directly into the website on the browser and I get access. What gives???

BEWARE - Ticket not valid on the Metro Subways

While the mobile ticket is valid on MetroLink, it will not work on the Metro Subway system. The turnstile on the Metro Subway do not have the technical ability to read the mobile tickets. I estimate that the vast majority of Metrolink riders also use the Metro subway system. Its poor planning to rollout the mobile app without resolving the turnstile issue -- not to mention that the disclose of this issue is not prominently disclosed when you purchase a mobile ticket.

Need a schedule

Its great that you can now buy tickets, but to me a lack ofa schedule is a big problem.

Average App

The app itself is still very basic at this point. It lets you purchase tickets and store a method of payment and thats it, which makes the app more similar to a TAP card that has payment abilities rather than just a value-storage device. A few improvements to the app could be: *search the stations near you using geofence. *information regarding stations (park and ride availabilty, address, lines serving stations, etc) *TRIP PLANNER - Im sure if Metrolink included this in their app, people will start paying attention. Trust me. Ive been a commuter, I know. *TAP card connectivity

Glitchy, does not always work

This app has been more of an inconvenience to me because for some reason I keep relying that this app will work. More than half of the time I have tried to buy tickets, it says theres a connection error when my internet is working on my other apps. I gave it two stars because it has potential and it has worked twice or so with me. I hope to see this app to fix this glitch some time in the future, and to also offer more navigation such as train schedules.

Ticket Prices are more; no schedule(s) attached

The app runs okay. The prices are more on the app than at the machine. The the point of having the app should be to make things easier and less expensive (waste of paper and machine maintenance). I have to go to the station anyway so why would I want to pay more on the app???

Schedule?????

Theres no train schedule. THERES NO TRAIN SCHEDULE. What even is this?

Waste

Think about all the useful and interesting things an app for commuter rail might do. Have you come up with a few? Its pretty easy, isnt it? Unfortunately, this app does none of those things. Yet somehow a committee of public transit officials gave the OK to this waste of money and effort. Just sad.

Works well for me

One complaint: three clicks to activate a monthly pass. Itd be much better if the app opened and, if you had a monthly pass in your wallet, asked you if you wished to activate your pass. I mean, why else would I be opening it? Built in schedule would be nice, as well as push notifications if your ticketed line was experiencing delays.

Terrible

Keeps saying I am using an invalid username or password when I can log in just fine with the exact same credentials on the website. Awful awful app.

Needs Access to MetroRail

I love everything about this app as I can buy the tickets very quickly rather than waiting in line for it. However when I buy the ticket for the metrolink train, the ticket doesnt work for the subway trains like the MetroRail (Purple line, Red line). Please allow the ticket to work for subways too!!

Lacks many features

You can use it to buy tickets... Yeah, its not much good for anything else. Lacks: -Ability to notify you of service alerts or delays. -Ability to track trains, like the last stop they made. -Schedules. It lacks many other features, but these are the ones that matter to me.

Why bother with using this app?

Whats the point of having an app that only buys a ticket? It needs a schedule and route feature instead of encouraging a link to the metrolinktrains.com site, which by itself isnt particularly user friendly either and doesnt seem to want to link the same account with the app, which means you have to register twice?!?!?! And then the app doesnt feature a favorite schedule either? The website was no help either ... spent 15 mins trying to figure out from the instructions how to add a trip/station/schedule favorite until I gave up altogether. With all the money Metrolink wants to take in through the app, it doesnt want to offer the technology that would encourage a rider to travel on the train. Pitiful.

Used it this past weekend! Only good for tickets.

Soooo I downloaded this and was able to use it to purchase my ticket. But thats pretty much all its useful for. They really need to put more features. There are only a few buttons that allow you to do anything. You can click a button to go to the metrolink website and a button to access their social media. But clicking those buttons opens up a separate page and it has to load. Pretty much useless. Might as well just type the web url into my phones web browser... What would be great: - a simple button that accesses a map - time table of the different lines. - notifications of when your train is arriving. - capability of mapping out your trip by using the app - notifications if a train is running late instead of having to check on Twitter.
